Membership The Committee is composed of five members of the National Assembly: a chairperson, a rapporteur and three other members. Committee members are elected from among the members of the National Assembly on the basis of their interest in the issue. They are elected for one session, renewable. Since only one gender is present in the National Assembly, all Committee members are men.

Subjects dealt with Among other things: (a) enrolling women voters in electoral constituencies; (b) legal and judicial matters like court procedures that harm women's rights; (c) social affairs such as violence within the family, the rights of divorcees, raising children and housing; (d) public awareness of the need to grant women their political rights and to allow them to participate in democratic processes in the near future; and (e) the right of women to employment, promotion and a pension, for instance.
